10 of the Weirdest People Who Have Ever Ran for President

Cynthia McKinney

In 2008, before Hilary Clinton’s run for the highest office in the land happened, there was another lady vying for the presidency, and if she had won not only would she have been the first female president but also the first female conspiracy theorist president. McKinney had already served as member of Congress until 2006, being first elected in 1992. Despite this wealth of experience she had some pretty bizarre claims and equally bizarre behavior.

She firstly punched Capitol Police officer for not recognizing her and stopping her from entering Congress (the charges were eventually dropped), but that’s just the start. She tried to pass a bill to release the government’s ‘secret records’ on rapper Tupac Shakur and accused the Department of Defense with the cover-up of 5,000 execution-style deaths of inmates in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and dumping their bodies in a swamp.
