Chi-Chi’s
Although it is actually a Mexican restaurant, Chi-Chi’s first location was in Minneapolis. The popular restaurant chain got its start back in 1975 by sharing space with a famous bar. Its start was a success, so the founders wanted to expand the business.
By the mid-’90s, the company had more than 200 locations, and its overexpansion was detrimental. In 2002, the restaurant chain declared bankruptcy, and any hopes for a comeback went down the drain when a hepatitis A outbreak put down for good four people and sickened over 650 people who had eaten at a Chi-Chi’s restaurant in Pittsburgh.
